From the Streets to the Courtroom — And Now to Your Side of the Table

I spent my career in law enforcement doing something most people never have to think about — watching criminals systematically steal homes and manipulate vulnerable elders to enrich themselves at the expense of grieving families. I investigated these crimes up close. I reviewed the forged documents. I interviewed the victims. I worked cases through to prosecution.

What I saw — repeatedly — was that the damage could often have been prevented. Not always, but far too often. A family didn't know what to look for. An attorney wasn't aware of the specific criminal patterns. A victim tried to report the crime and was turned away by an officer who didn't recognize it as criminal. These gaps cost people everything.

Silver Bison Consulting exists to close those gaps. I founded this firm to bring the investigative perspective directly to the attorneys and families who need it most — before a crisis, during one, or in the aftermath when the path forward feels impossible to navigate.

"The most important thing I learned in law enforcement is that knowledge is protection. The families who understood the risks were the ones who escaped them. That's what Silver Bison is built to provide."

From Child Abuse to Elder Fraud — A Lifetime of Standing With Those Who Can't Always Stand Alone

Before I ever investigated a forged deed or a fraudulent mortgage, I spent ten years as a child abuse detective. That decade shaped everything about how I approach my work — and how I approach the people I work with.

Child abuse investigations demand a particular kind of presence. Victims are often frightened, confused, and unsure who to trust. They may not fully understand what has happened to them. The people who harmed them frequently held positions of trust — a parent, a caregiver, someone who was supposed to protect them. My job was not just to investigate the crime, but to make the victim feel safe enough to tell the truth, and to ensure that what they told me could be heard in a courtroom.

When I transitioned to elder fraud and real estate crimes, I was struck immediately by how similar the victim experience was. Elder fraud victims are often frightened and confused. They may not fully understand what has happened to them. The person who harmed them frequently held a position of trust — a family member, a caregiver, someone who was supposed to protect them. The crime changes. The human experience of being victimized does not.

That history — ten years with child victims, years more with elder fraud victims — means that when I sit across from an executor trying to understand how their parent's home was stolen, or a family member who watched a caregiver manipulate a loved one into signing away their property, I am not hearing that story for the first time. I understand the grief, the disbelief, the anger, and the overwhelming feeling that the system doesn't know how to help. And I know how to help them navigate it.

"Whether the victim was eight years old or eighty, the most important thing I could give them was this: someone who believed them, understood what had happened, and knew exactly what to do next. That is what I bring to every consultation at Silver Bison."

A Career Built on Protecting People From Financial Crime

My law enforcement career was defined by a single focus: financial crimes that target property, exploit vulnerable people, and destroy families. The experience I gained from every case I worked is the foundation of the consulting I provide today.

Law Enforcement Career

Sheriff's Department — Patrol & Investigations

Began my career in law enforcement, developing a foundational understanding of criminal law, evidence standards, and the practical realities of how crimes are investigated, reported, and prosecuted.

Child Abuse Investigations Unit

Detective — Child Abuse & Vulnerable Victim Investigations

Spent ten years as a child abuse detective, working some of the most emotionally demanding cases in law enforcement. This decade defined how I approach vulnerable victims — with patience, precision, and a deep understanding of the psychological impact that exploitation and abuse leave behind. The investigative skills developed here — reading people, identifying manipulation, recognizing patterns of predatory behavior — carried directly into my work with elder fraud victims years later.

Fraud & Cyber Crimes Bureau

Detective — Real Estate Fraud & Elder Fiduciary Abuse

Assigned to the Fraud & Cyber Crimes Bureau, where I specialized in real estate fraud, title theft, mortgage fraud, and elder fiduciary abuse. Investigated crimes ranging from individual forged deeds to organized title fraud operations involving multiple properties, corrupt notaries, and straw buyers.

Specialized Investigations

Complex Real Estate Fraud Cases

Developed deep expertise in the intersection of real estate law and criminal law — understanding not only how crimes are committed, but what evidence prosecutors need, which penal codes apply, and how to build cases that result in charges. I worked closely with district attorneys, executors, trustees, title companies, escrow offices and civil attorneys on complex, multi-party fraud matters.

Probate & Estate Risk Assessment

What Makes This Consulting Different

There is no shortage of real estate professionals, attorneys, or financial advisors who can help navigate a property transaction. What is genuinely rare — and what Silver Bison Consulting provides — is the perspective of someone who has investigated these crimes from the law enforcement side.

I understand not just what these crimes look like on paper, but how they are actually committed, how they are detected, and — critically — how the evidence needs to be assembled and presented to give victims the best possible outcome. That is not a perspective you can acquire from a certification course or a law school curriculum. It comes from years of working cases.

That experience extends into the courtroom. I have testified multiple times as an expert witness in criminal real estate fraud and elder fraud cases, providing testimony that helped secure convictions against those who committed these crimes. I have also testified in Quiet Title Actions — the civil proceedings through which defrauded homeowners seek to restore legal ownership of their property — and have successfully helped victims reclaim the titles to their homes. Understanding both the criminal and civil dimensions of these cases, and having stood in both courtrooms, gives me a perspective that is genuinely rare in the consulting world.

01

Investigative Perspective

I approach every situation the way a detective would — looking for the patterns, the anomalies, and the evidence that others miss. That instinct doesn't turn off when you leave law enforcement.

02

Sensitivity to Circumstances

Probate and estate matters follow significant loss. I bring the same professionalism and compassion to every consultation that I developed working with crime victims throughout my law enforcement career.
